After studying every day, I sit down to draw. I dip brushes, mix colors, all while sifting through songs or books for that little sprig of inspiration that drives creation. Recently, it has been travel photographs, which have been the source of my inspiration, encapsulated bundles of culture, proudly identified with flags waving high.
I suppose this particular image originated right out of James Joyce’s “Dubliners,” a book that tells the tale of individuals from guess where – Dublin. “Individual” is the le mot juste here, as every character has their own story, follows their own path, whether good or evil. Joyce’s words describe a frozen image of their life, a defining moment or disappointment, glee, or a key decision, which defines the character as well as their story.
This image is Dublin, from a land I have not yet traveled to, but have developed an internal idea of an atmosphere surrounding it. Can you imagine walking down this street?
